The march marked the centennial celebration of International Women's Day on March 8.

Farmers march to Mendiola; hit bets for land reform stand

MANILA, Philippines--For some 10,000 farmers, workers and teachers who marched to Mendiola Friday to commemorate the massacre of 13 farmers 23 years ago at the historic Mendiola Bridge (now Don Chino Roces Bridge) in Manila, opened to the militants once again, it was a day meant to remember the past and to collect on unfulfilled promises for the future.

Leftwing solons join 8,000 farmers in remembering Mendiola massacre

MANILA, Philippines—Seven leftwing lawmakers have joined 8,000 farmers in their march to Mendiola to commemorate the 1987 massacre in the historic bridge near the Malacañang Palace and press for land reform.
