Rep. Liza Maza of Gabriela Women’s Party today condemned the reported brutal killing of at least forty-four (44) people including seventeen (17) women and lawyers Cynthia Oquendo and Connie Brizuela who are both members of the National Union of People’s Lawyers (NUPL) in Maguindanao.

Liza Maza today decried COMELEC’s recent junking of the petition of two progressive partylists Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) and union of government employees Courage for the accreditation of partylist groups in the 2010 national elections describing it as “systematic repression against progressive groups”.
Rep. Liza Maza of Gabriela Women’s Party today hit Arroyo’s Executive Order 845 that officially lifted the price cap on petroleum products and described it as a tool for oil companies to rake in super profits and for the Arroyo administration to continue increasing revenues from 12 percent expanded value added tax (VAT) on oil.
